In 1868-1869, coming from Louveciennes where his family lived and joining<a title=\"claude monet\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tourisme-bougival.com\/en\/discover-bougival\/claude-monet-2\/\">\u00a0Claude Monet\u00a0<\/a>in Bougival, the two of them set up their easels at the Grenouill\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;View of Bougival&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0(La Grenouill\u00e8re is an inaccurate title) painted on the Island of La Chauss\u00e9e near the Boaters&#8217; Dance does not yet have the &#8220;impressionist&#8221; touch, which was nevertheless already found at the time.<\/p>\n<p>However, the period between 1879 and 1888 was productive and his finest paintings date back to this time.\u00a0<i>&#8220;The Dance at Bougival&#8221;<\/i>,\u00a0<i>&#8220;The Two Sisters&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0(on the Terrace), etc. In these paintings Renoir&#8217;s special talent for depicting the human face asserted itself.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;His whole life and his work are a lesson in happiness&#8221;<\/i>, stated the critic Octave Mirbeau.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tourisme-bougival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Auguste-Renoir11.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3120 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tourisme-bougival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Auguste-Renoir11.jpg\" alt=\"Auguste Renoir, View of Bougival, detail, 1873, Milwaukee Art Museum, Wisconsin, USA\" width=\"292\" height=\"239\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tourisme-bougival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Auguste-Renoir11.jpg 292w, https:\/\/www.tourisme-bougival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Auguste-Renoir11-215x176.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Dance at Bougival&#8221;\u00a0&#8211; 1883 &#8211; Museum of Fine Arts in Boston Although\u00a0Auguste Renoir\u00a0did not settle down in Bougival, he had the opportunity of coming to paint on the banks of the Seine on several occasions.
